Maybe It Is Time To Get Serious?

I don't want to spend another summer just setting around waiting on the 'fat fairy' to rescue me. So I decided I am gonna put in my request. The boys always ask me what I would really like to have. Well here it is. I used to have one about 15 years ago. Used it too. Then due to a home fire I didn't have it anymore. I tried walking, I stumble and fall. I tried a Tony Little Gazelle, nice if you can stand on your legs a long time. Hmmm...

Maybe this summer will be my turn for a change. Now I am hunting around for those videos you can watch while you ride or walk.

Anyone else use a bike? How did it work for you?
I would sure like to hear your exercise and diet story.

Titles Of Sock Patterns

It was suggested to me, by the kids, that instead of the names I have been giving the patterns I should call them names like Altenator for the Truck, Engine Gasket for the Car, or Van Transmission. It doesn't exactly describe the lace used but maybe it is a more accurate description of the patterns. My grandson wants to know if I can title one New Fishing Pole. I think he has designs of his own!! I think I finally got me a fishing buddy.

Looks like summer is here. I am glad to see the peonies coming up and all the new leaves on the rose bushes. Lawn needs mowing already.

Monday night I was setting in the back yard in the rain watching son Harold finish getting the van running so he could go to work Tuesday morning. He told me he was gonna go try it out, be right back. It took me over half an hour setting there in the rain like a dummy to figure out he didn't mean 'right back' like I thought he did. I finally came in the house and called him. He was fixing the tail pipe over at his friend's house. Wonder how long I would have set out there in the back yard if it hadn't been raining? I was not the brightest light bulb in that pack for sure.

Anyone have any suggestions for new patterns you would like to see? Yarn? Color?

Sweater for Nina

Ok I finally finished Nina's Sweater. I got the yarn a year and a half ago. When I saw the perfect starter pattern online I was inspired to do it. This used 4 skeins of an acrylic wool mix yarn and size 7 circ.
It took 2 days to knit. I intended to finish it the second day after starting, but took a couple of days off to help son, then picked it back up and did it. Was a fun knit. I used rows of Lilac lace at the top and bottom and an edging from another source. It does not pull in at waist or flare out at bottom but i pulled it in and fanned it out for the pic details on the body form. Picture is taken in the shade and is a much lighter pinks to cocoa color. sure hope she likes it.

What Am I Up To?

Almost finished with the last chart before the edge on my Peacock Shawl. Have 8 other shawls on needles too. Finishing my blue lace socks, and working on a green pair. Stayed up last night and knitted a hat for son Kevin with my homespun wool.

It is a touch frosty here in Michigan. Was below zero last week and this week we are having a heat wave of almost 5 degrees this morning. Of course the foot of snow we have is not making it any easier. Can't park on the streets. Back yard is full of cars. It is so cold that I am wearing a hat in the bedroom to try to stay warm.

The kids stayed home last week because of the temps dipping close to the 20 below zero mark and now this week we are snowed in. Next week is spring break. Gee 3 whole weeks of hollering kids. I am so thrilled. I am so thrilled I had to change to decaf coffee.

Well back to my knitting and spinning! Best wishes to all.

Knitting Away!

I am almost finished with these new
blue ruffled lace diamond socks.

More About the Yarn in Red Lace Shawl.

Peace Fleece Wool In a Salmon Red Color. I am sure this is the wool I used for the shawl. It is thin like sock yarn. Not skinny as Lorna's Laces but a good healthy sock yarn. It is very soft and lovely to work with. The webpage says it has 350 yards per 4 oz skein. I used less than 2 skeins and blocked it to just a touch over 6 feet wide and it is 3 feet long down the center back stitch.

Friday, January 12, 2007

Finished red lace Shawl !!

I am real happy with the way this shawl turned out. I wrote the pattern myself. It is a gorgeous red wool from Peace Fleece in fingering weight. The red has bits of firey yellow and orange flickering in it.

The shawl starts at the neck and works out in a triangle.

Felted Noro Purse

Wanting one small enough to carry, big enough to hold my stuff for every day usage. This purse measures about about 11 inches long and just over 6 inches tall. smaller than a sheet of printer paper but the bottom is wider so all my goodies fit inside. The top is smaller and can be left as/ is or lined with a zipper like I finish mine. The strap rings are knitted right on the ends of the purse making them strong and secure. I used 2 key rings through the purse strap knitted rings. A regular strap, rope, chain, or knitted strap work great. The right pic has a plastic bag inside the purse to hold it open.
