uh Oh! I get an F in Felting. Drat.

well guess pair number one is not gonna be for me. i found out that when you felt stuff it shrinks stuff in width way quicker that it does in length. so now they are too long. and i am gonna have to make another pair.

does anyone have any hints on just how in the world to figure out how to knit for felting? i sure thought they would be ok as a womans large shoe size. they would be ok in width but they are SO long! good think i have a son that wears size 16 shoes.

well here I go on felting try number two.

Jeanie, I have the book, *Felted Knits* by Beverly Gelaskas. She suggests knitting a good sized swatch with the wool you're going to use, taking measurements in length and width, then felting it and remeasuring. This helps you to figure out the felting characteristics of the wool you are going to use....like which way it shrinks most....length or widty.

You might try felting your clogs again, running them through additional cycles and seeing if they shorten some.

Good Luck!

Jeanie, did you make the outer sole like in the pattern? I think it needs that double layer of thickness. I think it might be a good idea to throw them back in, hot water, about 1 tsp of mild liquid detergent, check every 5 minutes, reshape & throw back in (reset the washer cycle) until they fit.

usually your felted items shring 40 to 50 per cent in width and 50 to 60 per cent in height.

the purple ones are FUZZY way fuzzy it was a different unknown wool yarn. maybe it had something else in it? They are still too big. I will try refelting them this afternoon. Looking for some more wool now so I can try again.

Thank you for the help. I appreciate it "C". best wishes.
